Tanzanian musician, Diamond Platinumz is over the moon after he was named among national icons of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Word from Mwalimu’s land has it that our muko (in-law) was awarded a book trophy which had the words, Icon of the Nation in appreciation for his contribution in marketing the country abroad.

Among others recognized were Maria Nyerere, Asha Rose Migiro, Bi kidude and Filbert Bayi, Adam.

The awards were given out in recognition of personalities that have held the Tanzanian flag up high as the country celebrates 50 years since its formation in 1965 after the unification of Tanganyika and Zanzibar.

Earlier last month, ChimpLyf reported that Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete had personally invited Diamond Platinumz and thanked him for promoting his country.
